We make cheese from the grassfed milk of our cows on our 226 acre dairy farm located in the Green Creek area of Columbus in Polk County, NC. We focus on producing exceptional handcrafted cheeses including fresh, blue, washed rind and hard pressed cheeses. We make both raw milk and pasteurized varieties as well as caramelized cows milk sauce (dulce de leche) and ice cream too! In addition to our dairy products, we also make small batches of hard cider from local apples, preserves, and pickles to go alongside our cheeses on a charcuterie board. Visit us at both our locations for great service and a unique experience. You can shop for cheese and the best of local food or stay awhile and enjoy a cheese board. Our origin story began in Fairview, just outside of Asheville where our Cheese Shop is located in the building that used to house our creamery when we started in 2009. You can also visit us on the farm in Columbus where we built a new creamery and Farm Store. When you are there meet a cow, soak up the beautiful view and explore the farm. We are open at both locations from 11am to 5pm every Thursday thru Sunday year round. We sample and sell all of our cheese, lots of local food products, beer, wine and serve cheese plates too or order ahead to take one to go.

Come visit us at our original location in Fairview (just outside of Asheville) or on the farm in Columbus (near Tryon). We sample and sell all our cheese, fresh to aged as well as our ice cream. Our cheeses include fresh to aged including cheddar and alpine styles and sometimes blue. We also have fresh cheddar curds available at times depending on our make schedule. In addition, we produce a line of preserves, pickles and hard cider from local apples. All designed to go on a cheeseboard for you to enjoy at both locations or order a cheeseboard to go. We serve wine by the glass and bottle at both locations. Local beer available on tap and in the bottle at the Cheese Shop in Fairview. Shop or stay awhile at either location. Beautiful views abound at both locations, explore the farm and see the cows when you come down to Polk County. Well behaved dogs on leash permitted at both locations but not inside any buildings.
Our store is open from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.
We have two locations so be sure to know which one you are wanting to visit before heading out. Our original location (The Cheese Shop) in Fairview is a cute store with a loft and garden seating. Sometimes there are calves to pet from the farm and there are beautiful mountain views. Our new location on the farm in Columbus features a store (The Farm and Store) and a large farm to explore. Both locations feature our products which are centered on great cheeses but we also make hard cider, pickles and preserves to go along with those cheeses. You can also find the best local food, our ice cream, beef and other seasonal farm products available to purchase. If you want it, get a cheese education from our experienced staff, and enjoy a cheeseplate with wine or beer while you are here. A great relaxing way to spend a little time, check our google and trip advisor reviews before you come to see what people are saying about us.
