About Winding Stair Farm and Nursery
Our Farm has 2 locations: Valley and Mountain. The Valley Farm (next to the Nursery in Franklin, NC) is our main spot for vegetable growing - all local, using organic-practices and certified naturally grown. // The Mountain Farm (a private residence) is where we everything began, and is now mostly devoted to pasture for sheep. This location is also home to our grist mill and to our campground with various lodging options (camping and glamping). You can buy farm products (including poultry, eggs, produce, meat, yarn and more) at our Nursery Retail Center in Franklin. // In 2020 we opened our new retail building at the Nursery, and garden center in Franklin, which is home to houseplants, tools, and gifts, in addition to our diverse range of quality plants and farm produce. The nursery is dedicated to increasing our range of native plants; an important part of our mission to support local ecosystems. We also provide frequent classes, educational seminars and events.

CSA members will receive weekly shares of the farm’s bounty, as well as suggested preparations, recipes, and some historic or otherwise interesting tidbits about the products! You will see lots of familiar staples, as well as some lesser-known but wonderful foods.

ROADSIDE INFORMATION
We have a produce & farm shop within our retail Nursery at 57 Saunders Road, Franklin NC 28734. This shop is filled with our fresh, seasonal produce as well as other goods. Throughout most of the season we sell certified naturally grown vegetable and herb starts to help our customers grow their own food.
Our store is open from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023.

Our Farm Offers:
We have 3 scheduled farm tours a year where visitors can access our private mountain farm location (12 miles west of the retail location), meet the sheep and have a tour of our new grist mill. LODGING
Winding Stair Campground
In 2022, we converted a large portion of our private mountain farm into a beautiful campground. As a camper, you can take a self-guided tour of the farm and meet the sheep! But it’s more than that: We have regular campsites with firepits and picnic tables and then we have glamping sites that range from having power and water facilities at the site all the way up to a full blown apartment rental with a lot of unique options in between.
