This is the certified organic research unit on the Mountain Research Station. The Mountain Research Station is owned and managed by the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services to support agricultural research by NC university scientists. We welcome you to attend field days and workshops where you can tour the station's research plots and learn from the researchers and extension personnel. Events are posted on the NC Alternative Crops and Organics Program website at https://newcropsorganics.ces.ncsu.edu/. We do not have sufficient staff available to offer individual tours, but if you can get a group of people together, we can probably work something out. Current research in the organic unit includes tomato breeding, vegetable variety trials, and studies on cultural practices for organic vegetables. Other research on the station outside of the organic unit includes broccoli, truffles, tomatoes, carrots, pumpkins, tobacco, beef cattle, hay, and more.
