Sawdust spawn is one of the most versatile and affordable ways to grow mushrooms. It can be used on logs, stumps, wood chips, mulch, coffee grounds, and pasteurized agricultural byproducts. Many of the same species available as plug spawn can also be found in sawdust form. Most species store well in the refrigerator for up to a year, so you can use it at your own pace. Plug spawn is the most beginner-friendly option for growing mushrooms on logs. Easy to handle and simple to inoculate, it’s ideal for first-time growers, small projects, or anyone wanting just a few logs of a specific species. Indoor fruiting kits are our easiest option, no drilling, boiling water, or clean room required. Just mist with water and, within weeks, harvest fresh edible mushrooms at home. Our Mycomatrix Adaptogenic Mushroom Extracts are high-quality, organic, and triple-filtered, made in-house at Mushroom Mountain. They’re crafted to support everyday wellness, immune resilience, and overall vitality. Beyond growing and extracts, our shop is full of mushroom-themed goodies and learning tools. We carry books, dried mushrooms, locally made mushroom-inspired gifts, and fun fungi tchotchkes, perfect for cooks, growers, educators, and mushroom enthusiasts of all kinds. All Mushroom Mountain grain spawn, sawdust spawn, and fruiting kits are packaged in biodegradable filter bags, keeping sustainability at the heart of what we do.
