Welcome to Gladheart Farm. We are a neighborhood farm in the Oakley area of East Asheville, NC. Our agricultural practices promote an atmosphere of biodiversity where plants, soil, beneficial insects, birds, and animals can thrive. We no longer use tractors and heavy machinery on the vegetable growing areas. Instead we utilize a walk-behind tractor and implements for low tillage production. Presently, the farm is laid out to provide 100 permanent vegetable production beds that are 100 feet long. We have a small herb production area for medicinal and perennial culinary herbs. Vegetables and seasonal culinary herbs are grown using organic methods. Our goat herd is maintained at around 30 goats, Nubian and Saanens. We also raise chickens. Animals are raised in and cared for in a healthy and humane way. Other aspects of the farm include a bakery making artisan sourdough breads, kale chips, and mate' energy bars. We also produce green drink using greens grown on the farm. Visitors are always welcome.
