Feed AVL is a program of Southside Community Farm. We distribute free, fresh, locally sourced food into the BIPOC community, regardless of income, with an emphasis on the Southside neighborhood. Through our Veggie Box Program, we intensively grow vegetables and herbs on multiple urban farm plots in West Asheville and at SCF. We value collaboration and support local farmers by purchasing additional products for our boxes like fresh fruit and other complimentary vegetables and herbs. We prioritize BIPOC businesses and farms, supporting at least one local BIPOC-owned farm or business each week. Community members and businesses purchase a weekly box for a BIPOC recipient in our program. When you purchase a box for a full season, you are ensuring free, fresh, locally sourced food for 20 weeks to a BIPOC individual or family in the Asheville community. The cost of the box covers farming, packaging, and purchasing costs, as well as free delivery to the recipient. If you are unable to purchase a box for a full season you can opt to pay for a portion of the season or donate any amount. Check out our website to help support our programming!
