What is the Farmer’s Market (FM) at ETSU? The market was established as a student organization in January 2012 with its first season in Spring of that year. The founding members were ETSU graduate students in the College of Public Health who wanted a source of healthful, local food on campus during the work week. Mission To increase the number of students, faculty, and staff reporting access to locally produced foods by making these foods available weekly at the farmers market and participating in celebrations, events, and presentations sponsored by various ETSU departments and/or organizations. Vision To facilitate a homegrown community at ETSU around local food, sustainability, and Appalachian roots. Market Ethos The Market would not be without the support of ETSU’s students, faculty, staff, and administration. Therefore, the Market should strive to incorporate the perspective of these stakeholders. Values Sustainability | Excellence | Integrity | Commitment to Local Appalachian Roots | Inclusivity | Collaboration When does the Market Operate? The Market runs on Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm during weeks that correspond to both the regular academic term and the local harvest season. The 2025 season is: Spring: March 27th - May 1st Fall: September 11th - October 30th These dates were chosen to ensure that produce could be available at the market and to ensure there would be adequate foot traffic on campus to justify holding a market. However, due to the season, there can be limited offerings in the Spring market.
