Walnut Ridge Gardens is a family owned farm that grows produce for sale in Macon County at a local farmers market, as well as at an organic grocer. Heirloom tomatoes and four varieties of garlic are specialties. We believe we are one of the largest garlic growers in the county, producing 3,200 bulbs each year. From these bulbs we produce six products: garlic bulbs, garlic powder, garlic scapes, garlic scape powder, black garlic and black garlic powder. In addition to vegetables grown following organic principles, Walnut Ridge produces baked goods for the local farmers market using locally sourced blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, pears and apples. We also produce 13 varieties of jam, three varieties of pickles, bruschetta, apple butter, pear chutney and sweet pickle relish. We also grow zinnias to sell as cut flowers at the market. In the spring, we grow eleven varieties of heirloom tomato plants from our own seeds saved from the season before. We sell these to local homeowners and gardeners who want to produce their own fresh mountain vegetables. We also produce several varieties of flowering and ornamental house, garden and herb plants for local homeowners. This spring will be our seventh year producing food products. In the fall, we support the Macon County Fair, one of the few remaining country fairs, where our produce, plants, jars and baked items have won ribbons.
