The John C. Campbell Folk School transforms lives, bringing people together in a nurturing environment for experiences in learning and community life that spark self-discovery. Located in scenic Brasstown, North Carolina, the Folk School offers year-round weeklong and weekend classes for adults in craft, art, music, dance, cooking, gardening, nature studies, photography and writing. The Folk School's campus garden produces a diverse array of crops and supports the programming of many classes and studios with dye plants, broom corn, basket willow, and more. The garden provides year-round produce for the Dining Hall that serves meals to our on-campus students. The Work Study program offers a unique opportunity for adults to learn, volunteer, and live at the Folk School. In 2022, Work Study students will participate in sessions lasting either 6 or 8 weeks long. During these sessions, half of the weeks are spent volunteering in the garden and school grounds, and the other half are spent taking weeklong classes. Tuition is covered for classes taken as a part of the program. Work Study applications are now open for Sessions 4, 5, and 6 of our 2022 Work Study Program. The Garden Intern Program is an 8-month program that is designed in developing and implementing season-long plans for the Folk School’s Garden, leading participants in the Work Study program, and performing overall maintenance. Application for the 2023 Garden Internship will be available in Winter of 2022. For more information on both programs visit www.folkschool.org
