About Blue Ridge Beefalo

The USDA first recognized Beefalo as a species in 1980. Through Pope Farms, Blue Ridge Beefalo has been in operation since 1981. We feature frozen, USDA inspected, cuts of meat from our hybrid animals (American Bison + Bovine) raised here, in Horse Shoe. Our cattle are hormone/antibiotic free and grass fed. Our retail store is located at 4210 Brevard Road in Horse Shoe, NC and is a part of Packa’s Place (www.packasplace.com). Operating hours are typically 10:00 am - 4:30 pm on Fridays only - but soon, we expect to expand these times, in some way. Beginning in September and October 2021, you can visit the seasonal boutique market at Packa’s Place and shop from a selection of heirloom pumpkins, gourds and winter squash - grown in our own Pumpkin Patch. In late November, we will transition the market to Christmas Trees and wreaths, sourced from the High Country of WNC. Another segment of Packa’s Place, The BARn, will offer pints, from a rotating selection of local craft beers and ciders, along with wine by the glass. One of our growing pains will be to develop more parking - rest assured that it is our Priority #1. We currently have handicap parking and accessible facilities. Due to our location, our day-to-day operations will greatly depend on the weather. We have some covered seating but, by and large, Packa’s Place is an outdoor experience, so check the forecast and dress to be outside. Our site has a performing stage area and we will have occasional Live Music. We also have a dedicated area for a food truck - we will seek out the tasty ones! Of course, Live Music and Food Truck schedules will vary. They will be publicized, in advance, via social media outlets. Packa’s Place is a dog-friendly (must be leashed) and a kid-friendly site. This being said, be aware that we border a very busy Highway 64. Also, know that this is a working farm and be cognizant of the inherent risks. It’s also adjacent to our private residence.
