Highgate Farm is a Certified Naturally Grown market garden and off-grid homestead located in the scenic Walnut Mountains of Madison County NC, just outside of Marshall. Our business model is inspired by the traditional French Market Garden, with great attention to detail, supplying a broad selection of high quality and specialty produce, herbs, and flowers to area tailgate markets, and CSA members. We aim to share our products and our great love of food, to inspire your inner chef. As a small scale CNG farm, our practices are closely aligned with Organic standards, and our products are only sold locally. We employ a small 4WD and walk-behind tractors, hand tools, drip irrigation, a passive solar propagation house, spun row cover, NOP compliant inputs and integrated pest management (IPM). Labor is provided by 2 full-time farmers, seasonal farm apprentices, interns, WWOOFers and work-traders. Find our beatiful produce at tailgate markets in the River Arts District of Asheville, West Asheville and Black Mountain, with CSA pick-up at those locations and on the farm in Marshall.
Highgate Farm encourages purchase of a prepaid, pre-packed seasonal CSA Farm Share as the surest way to secure safe, fresh produce during the current pandemic. Our farm and all of our markets/pick-up sites are implementing CDC guidelines to minimize risk of COVI-19 transmission. The use of social distancing, increased sanitation, disinfectant, masks and gloves, as well as hands-free product selection and payment options will practiced. At market, our products are displayed at a safe distance from customers.
